UXUA Artist Residency / Wilber Das' Bahian Home

Hotelier, architect & designer Wilbert Das has an ongoing collaboration with the natural landscape that surrounds him. During a visit to his most recent project he mentioned the site was more challenging than others due to the number of trees on the property. “We don’t cut down trees,” he explained. Instead he builds around them, incorporating the pre-existing forest into the design.

All of his creations bring the outside in whether it be a home he's nestled within the trees, the woodland wall mural in his own main living space, or a lamp he designed and built with a local ceramicist made with the very earth of Bahia.
